Ab Sommer diesen Jahres wird Volkswagen den Lupo auslaufen lassen - und durch den in Brasilien gefertigten und dort schon seit langem vertriebenen Fox ersetzen. Mit project Fox wird bereits versucht, ihn als junges, hippes Vehikel nach Europa zu bringen und nicht einfach als Billigfahrzeug mit VW-Emblem.
